NeighborWorks America
TRIP is one of 240 community development organizations across the country who are part of the NeighborWorks America network. The Neighborhood Reinvestment Corporation, doing business as NeighborWorks America, is a congressionally chartered nonprofit organization that supports community development in the United States and Puerto Rico. The organization provides grants and technical assistance to more than 240 community development organizations. NeighborWorks America provides training for housing and community development professionals through its national training institutes.[2] Since 2007, NeighborWorks America has administered the Congressionally created National Foreclosure Mitigation Counseling Program.[3]
Community Leadership Institute
TRIP engages residents in community organizing through the Community Leadership Institute. This invitation-only, three-day training event aims to elevate the voices and skills of community, resident and volunteer leaders. Troy neighbors join participants from around the country and attend in small teams with other communities served by NeighborWorks Network organizations and their partners. They attend a full range of courses and each participating team creates an action plan for making positive change in their community. TRIP has sponsored many CLI projects with matching funds from NeighborWorks America. Some examples of past projects include the Hillside North Banner project, the School #2 Outdoor Classroom Project and as seen to the right, the Honor a Vet Program.
